A PV carport<\/a> serves two purposes at once: It protects vehicles from the sun, rain, snow, and the elements, while also functioning as a small solar power plant. This is particularly useful when paired with an electric car. The vehicle is often parked right where the electricity is generated. A wallbox can automatically use excess solar power to charge the vehicle. In a commonly used solution, for example, the existing home PV system has its own inverter, and the new PV carport is also equipped with an inverter.

\u2022 voltage and current are within the permissible ranges,
\u2022 the module arrays and shading conditions are technically compatible.<\/p>

When roof orientations vary significantly\u2014for example, a south-facing roof on a residential building and an east-west orientation on a carport\u2014separate MPP trackers or dedicated inverters are often the more technically sound solution.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Another option is to equip the new PV carport with a hybrid inverter and, if necessary, a battery storage system. For retrofits, an AC-coupled storage system may therefore be a viable option.
